hope you all are having a relaxing day to start off your new year of 2023! I'm sure this will be a year to remember! We have so many exciting things coming up in the next few months! I've attached an updated calendar to help remind you of upcoming events. Remember that there is no meeting tomorrow night, January 2. We will meet again on Monday, January 9th for our regular den meetings.

- Pinewood Derby workshop day will be this Saturday at Woodland in Wesley Hall. That is the room where the Wolves meet. If you need assistance getting your derby car cut to shape come on by the church between 1 and 3pm. We will have several people and tools there to assist you. For those of you that missed getting your car kit at the last meeting, we will have them on hand. You can find the rules for building your car here: https://www.scoutshop.org/pwd-rules. Cars will need to be completed and turned in the Monday before the race on Jan 30th. Here is a snapshot of the basic rules:

Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.
Length shall not exceed 7 inches.
Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.
Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit. Additional wheels can be purchased separately.
Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.
The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.

- Scouting Adventure Cards are coming out in the next week or so. Be on the lookout for another email with details on how to sign up at one of our store front tables to earn extra money! Remember that $4 of each card sold goes directly into your scout's account to help pay for future adventures - like Kennedy Space Center!! The first opportunity to sell at a store front will be this weekend!!!

- Scouting for Food will start the last Saturday of this month. This is where we hand out flyers to each house in selected neighborhoods telling them to place food outside their door for pick up on the following Saturday. So Jan 28 will be flyer handout and then Feb 4 will be food pick up and delivery to Pilgrims Inn. Afterwards we will have our Pinewood Derby.

- Scout Sunday is Feb 12 at Woodland UMC. Other churches may celebrate Scout Sunday on the 5th so be aware of your churches preference. We would love to have each and every one of you attend the service at Woodland! Let's show them how much we appreciate their commitment to our Pack! Service begins at 10:30am and will be lead by the scouts. We will follow service with a pot luck lunch and a dedication/open house of the new STEAM lab!!! I will have sign ups for the service and lunch coming soon. Every scout that attends will receive a patch!

- Our membership renewal (recharter) is complete now. Scoutbook should be updated soon to reflect the new members. Once that is complete I will also update our Troop Web Host.

- Please review Troop Web Host asap to make sure you are all caught up on payments for membership for 2023. I'll be adding the final balance due for Kennedy Space Center very soon as well. If you are unsure if you are signed up or have changed your mind about going, please let me know asap so that we can create space for those that do want to attend.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Happy New Year!!!
